Why do I have to upload .pdf files?
The problem is the preview window, as it will only recognize and preview .pdf files. If you upload a lesson plan saved as Microsoft Word, it won't display properly and it'll look all weird.

How do I make .pdf files? I've never done it before
It's really, really easy...when you go to save your work, click Save As, and then choose .pdf - your plan will now be a .pdf file and will be ready for upload.

I can't upload a file?
Check that there is no apostrophe ( ' ) or comma ( , ) in the file name, the upload system doesn't like it.

How do I start a new topic in the forum?
Click on one of the categories most relevant to your topic, select New Topic, and start writing. Save it and you will have created a new topic.

How do I make the size of my plan/worksheet smaller?
Pictures will take up most of the file size, so you need to compress them. Here’s how:

1. Select the picture you wish to compress.
2. Ensure the Pictures toolbar is displayed (View | Toolbars | Pictures)
3. Click on the Compress Pictures button to display the Compress Pictures dialog box.
4. Select the compression options you require, then click on the OK button.

How do you select Teacher of the Month? Can I be one?
We’re looking for teachers who have at least two years’ teaching experience - but the more the better - and someone who enjoys making lesson materials.

The criteria is not too restrictive so if you’re interested then please add us (Dave Weller, Stuart Allen or Phil Senior) to your profile page and message us with your interest in doing this. We’ll see what we can do.

Why can’t I choose more than one genre for my plan/worksheet?
Many plans or worksheets will probably fall into more than one genre. But, in order to maintain fairness we decided to allow people only one choice. Otherwise, some lesson plans could end up in more than one genre, whereas others only fit into one genre.

This is where keywords are important. This is where you tag your lesson plan with the words that other users are going to search with to find a plan just like yours. So, think about what people might type in to get to your plan.

What’s the ‘user box’ in the search function for?
You can type the name of another user of the website so that you can see what they have produced.

What time is today’s material updated?
We have to review all of the lesson plans updated each day and aim to do that by 11.59pm Chinese time.

I can’t see the preview page of the lesson plan. What’s the problem? What can I do?
If the lesson plan is a big file then it will sometimes take more time to load up the preview page. If after 30 seconds or so it still hasn't loaded up then try refreshing the page. If it continues to be a problem find Phil Senior, Dave Weller or Stuart Allen on the profile page, add them, and let us know personally of the problem.  We will then endeavour to fix the problem asap.

What are the stars next to the plans for?
Rate each other’s material anonymously by scoring the plan out of five stars. When you see a plan you’ll see the average rating next to it and how many times it’s been rated.

Tip for teachers: to help you find what you're looking for type your search into the keywords box, e.g. present perfect, weather, discussion. Each lesson plan is tagged with keywords related to the plan to help you locate relevant materials quicker. So, think about what keywords you would use if you were making the plan you are looking for and use those.

Lesson Plan of the Week
Every week, we will choose our favourite lesson plan which has been submitted by one of the community. The plan will be showcased here, so you can all have a look and download it if it suits one of your classes.
